Three ways we can help
Every operator starts somewhere different. Some of you are a month from your first licence. Some have run a car for years and want your own customers. So there are no prices here. Tell us where you’re up to and we’ll tell you what it would take, and whether we’re the right people. The first conversation is free.
Pathway guidance
For: anyone from “thinking about it” to “applying for my BEA”.
What it is
We help you work out your path and walk it, from what we did ourselves.
What it can include
- A one-on-one session on the whole path: the vehicle and its licence, the driver authorisation, starting on Uber or DiDi, insurance questions to put to your insurer, signage, the safety management plan you will develop from your own risks, and your BEA application. You leave with a checklist for your own situation.
- Help getting BEA ready: you develop your safety management plan from the risks you identify in your own operation, and we help you work through them, review your draft and explain what TMR expects. The same goes for how you will keep your records, your sign design and your application, so what you lodge is your own and complete.
- Help with running day to day: written quotes, booking records, receipts and GST questions for your accountant, the fatigue record, and your first quarterly report to TMR. With our system or without it.
What we do not do
Lodge applications for you, write your safety management plan for you, sell you a plan template, or promise an outcome or a timeline. Your plan has to come from your own risks; ours is about our operation and cannot be reused as yours.
Ask about pathway guidanceYour system, your name
For: operators who hold, or are about to hold, their own BEA in Queensland.
What it is
The booking system we run on, as your own copy: your brand, your domain, your fares, your BEA.
What it would include
- Setting it up for you: your name and colours, your service area and places, your first fare schedule, your authorities, your text number and email, your payment link.
- Training for you and your staff, and checks with you before the first real booking.
- Hosting in Australia, nightly backups, every release (compliance fixes included), and support. We reply within 48 hours.
- Help with each quarterly report to TMR.
How it works
- As planned, your copy of the system would be separate from every other operator’s, with its own database. Your data is yours: your riders’ information, your bookings and your records. The exports TMR can ask for are in the system today, a full export of everything is planned, and if you leave, we hand it all back.
- Your texts, email and payments would run through your own accounts, so replies and money come to you.
- It would not take a booking unless your BEA is in force.
- Our name would not appear on your quotes, receipts or reports.
- Queensland only, for now.
Where it is up to
We run it for ourselves today. Making it ready for other operators is planned, not built, and there’s no date on it yet. If you’d like to be one of the first, tell us now. For the moment that’s a conversation, not a sign-up.
Done with you
For: someone starting from scratch, or from Uber, who wants both.
What it is
Pathway guidance to your own BEA, and your own system ready for the day it takes effect. The plan is that, while your application is with TMR, you could practise on your copy of the system; it would not take a real booking until your BEA is in.
Ask about done with youHow we work together
The first conversation is free. Before any paid work starts, we put it in writing: a service agreement that sets out what we will do and what it costs, that your data is yours and how you can take it with you, that we reply within 48 hours, and that we never take, answer or confirm your bookings. You see it before you sign, and you are welcome to have your own lawyer read it.
Questions people ask
Can you get me a BEA?
No one can promise that except TMR. We help you prepare a complete application about your own operation. TMR assesses it and decides.
How long will it take?
We cannot say, and we would be wary of anyone who does. TMR says a vehicle licence can take 5 to 20 business days and most driver authorisations 2 to 4 weeks; it publishes no processing time for a new BEA. Our own dates are on our story, but they are ours, not a guide to yours.
Can you write my safety management plan?
No. Your safety management plan has to come from the risks you identify in your own operation, so you develop it yourself. We are happy to help: we can work through your risks with you, review your draft and explain what TMR and the law expect of a plan. We do not sell a template, and ours is about our operation, so it cannot be reused as yours.
Do I have to start on Uber or DiDi?
No. I started on Uber, and an app is a good way to learn the work before you spend on your own brand, but you can apply for your own BEA without one.
Will you take bookings or answer the phone for me?
No, never. You are the booking entity for your service; we are not. We sell software and guidance, not transport.
Is the software TMR-approved?
TMR does not approve booking software. It authorises operators. The system helps you keep the records and send the documents the law asks for; the duty to comply stays with you.
I am outside Queensland. Can you help?
Not with the system yet: it is built around Queensland’s law. Tell us your state on the contact page and we will tell you whether and when we could.
What does it cost?
The first conversation is free. After that, it depends on where you are starting and what you need. Talk to us and we will give you a written quote.
How quickly will you reply?
Within 48 hours, to an enquiry and, if you become a client, to a support request. If something is urgent, ring Bruce.
Who owns my data?
You do. Your riders’ information, your bookings, your driver and fatigue records and your reports to TMR all belong to you, not to us. We would hold them for you as your service provider, in Australia, and use them only to run your system. The exports TMR can ask for, the shift log and the quarterly report files are in the system today; exporting all of it yourself, the whole database in open formats, is planned (see the system page). We would keep records for 7 years by default, counted from when each one is finished with (a trip completed and paid, a driver or car leaving your books), and you could choose a different period, as long as it is never shorter than the law requires you to keep them. If you left, we would hand everything back before deleting anything.
