Pets in the boot
If you say yes to something riders love, write down the rule that protects the riders it could hurt.
Plenty of taxis say no to pets. We planned for them. Uber Pet already existed, which told us people want to travel with their animals, and I wanted a direct-booked version that was better for the animal and for the next rider.
The boot
The EV9’s boot is fitted for animals: a quilted liner, side protection and a flap over the bumper, so claws don’t meet paint on the way in. It is road-tested daily by our own golden retriever.
The liner comes out, and the boot is cleaned, between animal trips.
The rule we never break
Some riders have animal allergies. So:
- a trip with a pet is never shared with a rider who has an animal allergy on their file;
- and a pet trip is never booked straight before a trip for one.
The system enforces both, as an absolute rule. Nobody has to remember it.
Assistance animals are not pets
An assistance animal travels in the cabin with its handler, as of right, at no charge. It is never treated as a pet booking.
What I’d tell you
If you take pets, make the allergy rule part of the system, not part of someone’s memory. And ask your insurer about carrying animals before you advertise it.
